Daimler Trucks North America Bob Fyda Finish First Scholarship
Objective:
Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) is looking for technicians who combine good technical skills and attitude to be a member of the DTNA dealer service network team. This scholarship program, sponsored by DTNA and their dealers across the US, recognizes the memory and accomplishments of Bob Fyda a respected DTNA Dealer Principal who had been involved in the DTNA network for many years. The UTI Foundation Daimler Trucks North America scholarship program seeks to assist students with the tuition costs for the 12 week DTNA Finish First program.Students will be chosen who truly understand and exhibit the traits necessary to have a successful career with the DTNA dealer organization.
Criteria for awarding the scholarship:
Enrolled students who meet all the criteria below may apply for a $2600 grant-in-aid (applied to the student’s DTNA Finish First program tuition). The scholarship will be prorated over the term of the 12 week program. To be eligible for the scholarship a student must
- Be a student in good standing in any of the automotive and/or diesel technician programs at UTI or other similar NATEF certified automotive and/or diesel curriculum programs,
- Be willing to commit to a term of employment with a specific Daimler Trucks dealership upon graduation,
- Submit an essay or video that clearly expresses the skills and traits that make a successful Daimler Trucks North America team member and how the student will use this scholarship, and his/her training with the Finish First program to develop those traits,
- Have the recommendation of one of his/her automotive and/or diesel instructors,
- Submit the completed application no later than 6 weeks prior to start date.
If a student would also like to be considered for this UTI Foundation scholarship because of a demonstrated financial need, they should indicate such need in the essay or video. Financial need is not a pre-requisite for scholarship selection, but will be taken into consideration by the committee.
Process and Rules:
Any student meeting the criteria may apply. Students will complete an application including an essay or video, and submit it to the UTI Foundation Office. Students who apply and meet all requirements will be considered for this grant-in-aid.
Of those applications received, each will be reviewed for completeness and authenticity of all information provided. Of those viable applications, the awards will be distributed to those students who present the greatest commitment to the heavy dutytrucking industry through the ideas expressed in the essay or video portion of the application. All viable applications will be reviewed by the UTI Scholarship Committee. Final selection of the scholarship recipients will be made by the Daimler Trucks North America Bob Fyda scholarship selection committee. Applicants will be notified via U.S. mail after deadline date.
